Before running GQL/Demo for the Macintosh, print the Demo Guide included in the demo folder. The file is saved in Text format and is approximately 18 pages long. It provides a hands-on introduction to GQL. Version 3.1 of the guide is not yet available. See the accompanying GQL V3.1 Features file for a description of the new features available in version 3.1 of GQL.
Pub/Sub Demo
=============
The GQL demo models have a publisher set up for the executive button in the lower right corner (the button that looks like a chart). The first time you use this button it will present the publisher dialog. Name the edition 'Sales amounts'. When you execute the query you will be prompted for a minimum amount; use either '5000' or '30000' to retrieve stored results.
There is an Excel 3.0 file called 'Pub/Sub demo' included with the demo that subscribes to the 'Sales amounts' edition file and draws a chart. Double click on 'Pub/Sub demo' to start Excel. With both GQL and Excel running, click the button; the chart will be updated in Excel. You will have to resubscribe to the 'Sales amounts' edition the first time you run the demo on your system. The subscriber area in the spreadsheet is A3:B23. To resubscribe, select the range A3:B23 (20R x 2C), then choose Subscribe to… from the Edit Menu and select the edition file 'Sales amounts'.
